before you come

do i need to know how to play?

no. that's genuinely the point. we'll walk you through the basics on the spot and you'll be pushing pieces within minutes.

what does it cost?

often free, depending on where we're hosting. when we do ask, it's pay-what-you-want to help cover boards, and nobody's turned away over money.

do i need to bring anything?

nope. boards and pieces are on us. bring yourself, and maybe a friend.

do i have to sign up or be a member?

no signups, no membership, no commitment. just show up. we post where and when on instagram.

is it for all levels?

yes. total beginners and lifelong players share the same room. one table to learn, one to play, and you hop between them.

can i just watch?

totally. plenty of people come to talk, watch a game, and hang out. chess is the excuse.
